Keep this in mind: There are no “legitimate targets” for Russia in Ukraine. To avoid committing war crimes, only military targets may be attacked – but an unprovoked assault, a war of invasion in the Russian style, has no legitimate targets. None. Ukraine defends itself by striking military sites and oil production in Russia – never civilian targets.
Let that sink in as you reflect on Russia’s large-scale and systematic terror against civilians and civilian infrastructure. Russia kidnaps children on a massive scale, uses rape as a weapon of war, bombs residential buildings, hospitals, maternity wards, kindergartens, and care homes – almost always at night to maximise psychological impact. Following the model used in Syria, Russia carries out double strikes about 20 minutes apart, with the intent to kill rescue workers.
Missiles like the one in the picture (apparently some form of ballistic missile with grid fins) are fired at civilian populations.
With this in mind, how is it possible that the democracies of the “West” still fail to help Ukraine defend itself adequately? We must protest and push our elected representatives to act according to the values we have entrusted them to uphold.
