Home again after a overwhelming journey.
Home in the free life that many of us take for granted. A life many of us do not realise we must work together to defend. Home in Sweden, where I can sleep without air-raid alarms and go outside whenever I want. I am not a refugee in my own country. I live in the great freedom. I have opportunities.
I did non-military service. I have never held a weapon. During my lifetime it has been viewed with suspicion to suggest geopolitical threats. Maintaining the armed forces was called warmongering. I now see how naive the Swedish peace movement, of which I was a passive part, has been. The world becomes what we make it; peace has to be earned. Look at how freedom has pushed its borders forward in Europe. It has not been without cost. Right now it is Ukraine that holds the line against the terror threatening from authoritarian states. This concerns not only Putin’s Russia but very much also China, and of course Iran, North Korea, Hungary, and others.
Each of us must push forward. Our politicians seem paralysed, so we must build clear public pressure. Please share my songs that help my ambulance fundraising reach further.
